Providing Acupuncture and Customized Herbal Medicine
Acupuncture

Treating the Whole you
Acupuncture is a natural approach to medicine based on the science of you. John Zublionis AP uses the Shen-Hammer pulse system, along with a series of questions and tongue diagnosis. The pulse sends messages about how each organ is functioning in your body. When out of balance, we experience pain or disease; when in balance, your body can heal. Using thin, sterile needles, we can activate the healing process, regulate the body, and alleviate pain. These precise points have been utilized for thousands of years.
This is why we often use acupuncture and herbal medicine together to create a customized treatment just for you. Time and attention are taken to get to know you and how your current state came to be; the initial intake averages 90 minutes, the typical acupuncture follow-up is approximately 60. So how does it work? The body needs three things to healthy: Qi, Blood, and Fluids. Qi is the energy we derive from nutrient-rich foods and restful sleep. Blood has a more profound meaning in Eastern Medicine; it brings nutrients to the body and nourishes all our tissues, from bones to skin and everything in between. When we assess the Blood, we consider more than just what a blood test reveals. There is an awe-inspiring saying in Chinese Medicine classic texts: "Qi moves Blood and Blood nourishes Qi." When we think of Fluids, we consider all fluids, from joint lubrication (synovial fluid) to hormones and even the oils our body produces to soften skin and hair. Every organ plays a vital role in maintaining your health and contributing to the many functions required to keep you healthy. This is just the beginning; every organ's function and clear flow through each must be considered. The interaction of each organ is always part of your diagnosis and your treatment plan.
Acupuncture is very complex to learn, requiring an undergraduate degree, five years of academic study, internships, externships, and, last but not least, four board exams to earn the Diplomate of Oriental Medicine, which is required for certification from NCCAOM and licensure in the state of Florida. “Acupuncture” refers to a form of primary health care based on traditional Chinese medical concepts and modern oriental medical techniques that employ acupuncture diagnosis and treatment, as well as adjunctive therapies and diagnostic techniques, the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of health and the prevention of disease. Acupuncture includes, but is not limited to, the insertion of acupuncture needles, the application of moxibustion to specific areas of the human body, and the use of electroacupuncture, Qi Gong, oriental massage, herbal therapy, dietary guidelines, and other adjunctive therapies, as defined by Florida board rule.
